A
lone Utah juniper clings to a frosty Yaki Point. The juniper joins
the pinyon pine as the two most abundant trees in the Spartan forest
on Grand Canyon’s South Rim. Both are well suited for the meager
precipitation and wide-ranging temperature swings that are common
on the high-altitude (7,000 feet) South Rim.
