A heavy
winter snow followed swiftly by a warming trend can
produce a rare phenomenon called an “inversion” in
which a dense fog fills the canyon but leaves skies
overhead. This photo captures just such an event
in the making as fog and mist descend into
the canyon beneath Yaki Point.
