Sinking Ship
Lasting Light: 125 Years of Grand Canyon Photography
Sinking Ship is featured in Lasting Light: 125 Years of Grand Canyon Photography Mike Buchheit's work is featured in both the book and companion art exhibit; the latter has recently joined the esteemed Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service.

Also in the book, O'Neill Butte Rainbow.
The Sinking Ship represents a visual and geologic anomaly in a region dominated by horizontal rock layers. Its apparent “list” is the result of regional faulting and deferential erosion. A density of archaeological artifacts in the Sinking Ship’s immediate vicinity suggests that canyon dwellers have been enjoying this unusual landmass for thousands of years.
